Windows 11 supported Intel processors

Microsoft has listed the requirements for installing Windows 11 on a PC. If a device does not satisfy the minimum requirements, it will not receive a free upgrade to Windows 11. The requirements are designed to improve the security of Windows and prevent malware and ransomware from tampering with encryption keys and other secure elements of the operating system.

Security Requirements:

  • TPM 2.0: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 support is required. Previously, TPM 1.2 was acceptable, but TPM 2.0 is now mandated.
  • UEFI Secure Boot: Ensures that your PC boots using only firmware that is trusted by the manufacturer.

While TPM support has been required for OEM hardware certification since Windows 10, it wasn’t actively enforced. With Windows 11, this changes, and users might need to enable TPM and Secure Boot in their BIOS settings.

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
  • RAM: 4 gigabytes (GB)
  • Storage: 64 GB or larger storage device
  • System Firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
